A Lecco that you don’t expect in Parma. And, unfortunately, not in a good way. The Lecco you would have expected at the Tardini was a Lecco capable of giving a team that had won one match of the last four a hard time. And that could have been conditioned by the absolute need to win. Certain. On paper Lecco should have won too, but they were certainly almost doomed and the “lightness” with which they should have played should have been different.
Instead, Lecco entered the field hesitantly, even considering the significant absences of Lepore and Celjak in defense. But such a weak Bluceleste team had never been seen in the first half, in Serie B. Not even when they had taken two on other occasions, had they ever given up like this. The first half was a yellow-blue monologue without ever a successful exit from their own area. A defeatist and presumptuous attitude.
Then in the second half the Blucelesti set out to at least score the winning goal, but ended up taking the fourth. And so Parma’s poker puts the seal on a disastrous second round, with some sharp performances and only one victory in the farm. Too little even for those who, after the January transfer window, the real cause of the relegation, would hardly have found better results. Too little especially to give Malgrati and his boys the excuse of “it was too late”. Even in Parma we needed to give more. There remains a Lecco that returns to Serie C after just one season in Cadetteria in the worst possible way. But with a certainty that will be able to help him for the future: his fans and a brand new stadium. Meager consolations? Not if you consider that, perhaps, it will be sold to those who want to build on these two very solid foundations. Serie B has taught us that with corporate improvisation, specific incompetence on the market and the lack of unity on the pitch, we won’t get anywhere.
