Job Day of the Its Academy Tourism Puglia in Trani

Summer is approaching and with it the demand for qualified workers in the Apulian tourism sector is growing. To respond to this need and encourage the meeting between job supply and demand, the ITS Academy Foundation for the Hospitality Industry and Extended Tourism of Puglia, with the patronage of the City of Trani and Arpal Puglia, organizes a Job Day dedicated to the theme “The dual system: studying and working with ITS”.

The appointment is for Tuesday 30 April 2024, from 9:00 to 18:00, at the “Giovanni Bovio” Municipal Library of Trani (Piazzetta San Francesco). The event, which has the strategic support of Sviluppo Lavoro Italia, has a dual objective: to help companies in the search and selection of personnel and to offer job opportunities to all those looking for work.

The day will also be an opportunity to develop a fruitful dialogue between companies, educational institutions and professionalizing tertiary training bodies, with the aim of strengthening the dual learning system in Puglia and combating the mismatch between job supply and demand.

The Job Day is aimed at companies in the tourism-accommodation sector, including those in the ‘Food & Beverage’ sector, entertainment agencies, experiential and extra-hotel tourism circuits, but also at candidates looking for employment in the tourism sector, with or without experience.

Many activities are planned during the day such as meetings and individual interviews between companies and candidates; a round table with companies, trade associations, employment consultants, entrepreneurs, university professors; insights from the ITS Academy staff on the opportunities offered by the free high specialization courses, third level apprenticeships and internships and the presentation of the dual system.

The ITS Turismo Puglia Job Day will be a precious opportunity not only to bring together job supply and demand in the tourism sector, but also to explore the challenges and opportunities of the future.

Among the speakers of the round table to be held as part of the event, important figures from the Apulian economic and professional panorama stand out, including university professors, representatives of trade associations and service companies, employment consultants, entrepreneurs in the sector, etc.

Among the authoritative voices, Giovanni Assi, delegate for work and welfare of Confapi Puglia, will bring attention to the critical issues of the Italian labor market, with particular reference to the youth employment rate (one of the lowest in Europe) with a gap in 2023 by more than 16.2 percentage points compared to the European average, according to the latest CNEL report of April 2024. «Problems remain – states Assi – linked to the too long duration of the transition from school to work and the absence of consolidated dual paths of training and work to facilitate the entry of young people into the world of employment, with still too little use of apprenticeships. It is precisely in this direction that ITS play an increasingly decisive role, representing a great opportunity to reduce the imbalance between supply and demand which leads 4 out of 10 companies not to satisfy their search for specific professional skills”.

Nicola Pertuso, entrepreneur in the tourism-accommodation sector and president of FIPE – Italian Federation of Bari-Bat public establishments and member of the national board, as well as councilor of the Chamber of Commerce and Unioncamere, will talk about the lack of personnel in Puglia, a problem that has become increasingly pressing for entrepreneurs in the sector. Pertuso will delve into the causes of this phenomenon and propose possible solutions.

Felice Sgarra, Michelin starred chef of “Casa Sgarra” and partner of ITS Academy Turismo, will speak on the topic of the relationship with the territory. «To integrate all sectors in order to increase tourist attractiveness – explains Sgarra – a profound knowledge of the territory is necessary on the part of all the professional figures who gravitate around the sector, from the tourist agent to the institutions, to restaurateurs and so on ».

The conclusions of the round table will be entrusted to Marina Lalli, National President of Federturismo Confindustria and director of the ITS Academy “Wellness & Spa Hospitality Management” course in Trani who will bring her overall vision on the future of Apulian tourism and the strategic role of ITS in training of industry professionals.

The meeting will be moderated by Antonella Silvestri, director of the ITS “Food & Beverage Management” course in Trani.

The ITS Turismo Puglia Job Day is an event not to be missed for all operators in the tourism sector and for young people looking for work. An important opportunity for the future of Apulian tourism. A unique opportunity for companies to find the qualified human resources they need and for candidates to enter the world of work with high-quality training, as well as an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and find new growth opportunities professional and propose new synergies.
