Anzio: The CURA association condemns the inhumane attack on a homeless man

“We were shocked to learn of the serious event that occurred near the Padiglione railway station in Anzio, where a homeless man, while he was sleeping, was attacked by unknown persons who poured flammable liquid on him and then set it on fire. If the facts were confirmed, it would not be the first time that a serious event of this kind has occurred in our area, resulting in homeless people as victims. As an Association, which has always been involved in providing assistance to these marginalized people, we want to express our firm condemnation for this gesture which has no excuses. We live in a context of civil and educational poverty, of lack of respect towards the weakest and most marginalized, which unfortunately we witness almost daily and which we must stem with a greater sense of responsibility. We believe it is essential that the social fabric must be mended and that knowledge about the reality that concerns homeless people is part of a constant and constructive dialogue between the civil community, the Third Sector and the municipal administrations”.
