There will also be around a hundred places to park motorbikes and scooters, in the road reorganization planned by the Municipality for Bergamo Alta starting next month.

On May 4th, as announced by the Mobility Councilor Stefano Zenoni, the Fara Parking will open. After which the redefinition of the entire circulation in the Upper Town will begin.

As explained, the so-called “passover” – the shortcut up and down from Bergamo Alta used by motorists to reach the other end of the city, avoiding the center – will remain, at least for the moment. Its closure has been postponed until the next administration. It will be up to the council that will vote on June 9th to decide when and how to implement an unpopular measure such as blocking the “overpass”, used every day by around 14,700 motorists.

In the meantime, in addition to the new ZTLs that will come into operation with the Fara Parking, motorbikes will be allowed the usual access to the Walls.

Here, the current blue-striped stalls will be progressively transformed into yellow ones, available only to residents and authorized persons.

There are 210 of them reserved and will be used to remove cars from the internal squares of the Upper Town, including Piazza Angelini and Mercato del Fieno, as happened in Piazza Mascheroni and Cittadella.

Among the new yellow stalls on the Walls there will also be parking for motorbikes. «We will give some to two wheels – said Zenoni -. Considering that a parking space is equivalent to around 4-5 motorcycle spaces, we will get a few dozen, maybe a hundred.”
