An earthquake of magnitude 3.9 with its epicenter in the Campi Flegrei area woke up many Neapolitans who felt it distinctly, especially on the upper floors of the buildings.

The event was located at a depth of 3 kilometers with its epicenter in the gulf. In the Bacoli area several frightened people took to the streets.
The tremor was felt in several neighborhoods of Naples.
The Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology announced that the tremor occurred at 5.44am. According to online resources that calculate the depth at which it occurred, the earthquake occurred in the sea between 6 and 12 kilometers from Naples and the magnitude would be 4.8.
A strong shock already the previous night
The previous night an earthquake of magnitude 2.4 had been felt at 3.47 am by residents in the Campi Flegrei area, in the neighborhoods of Agnano and Bagnoli, in Naples and in the neighboring municipalities, between Pozzuoli and Bacoli as part of a swarm seismic characterized by around fifty tremors but all of low intensity, never exceeding 1.4 magnitude.
The Campi Flegrei, it is worth remembering, have for years been subject to the phenomenon of bradyseism, that is, the rapid lowering or raising of the land, on average one centimeter at a time.
The latest precedent dates back to April 14, 2024: at the time the magnitude was 3.7.
In the meantime, the red area for the phenomenon has been defined, which includes 85,000 people and 15,000 buildings. As the open.olnine website recalls, the municipalities of Pozzuoli and Bacoli are involved in part, as is the city of Naples in part, with Bagnoli, Fuorigrotta, Pianura, Soccavo, Posillipo, Chiaia, a part of Arenella, Vomero, Chiaiano and San Ferdinand.
