On Friday 26 April the Prisciano-Terni est Committee, together with Italia Nostra and WWF, met with the management of AST. The meeting was held inside the steelworks.
The associations themselves report this.
“They explained to us in detail the projects and actions they are implementing in order to reduce the environmental impact (dust, heavy metals) – they explain in a short statement.
AST staff proved determined to make the project successful, especially in view of the future limits on heavy metal emissions that will soon be imposed by the European Union. According to the timescales reported to us, everything will have to be completed in August 2025.
Of course, this is an experimental project and therefore the Committee remains seriously perplexed, given the many promises made over the years. For this reason the Committee, Italia Nostra and the WWF will carefully and continuously monitor the progress of the works”.
