04/27/2024 – The path “towards the Pact of Monasteries” for the Care of Creation starts from Pesaro 2024 – Italian Capital of Culture, aimed at deepening the role that spiritual bodies can have in ecological conversion and safeguarding culture .

Silvano Straccinigeneral director of Pesaro 2024, underlined how the capital’s calendar is marked by contents “that aim at a rereading culture in light of its relationship with nature and technology. The work that is presented today contains many aspects of this connection and of the research that Pesaro Capitale is carrying out together with numerous bodies, private individuals and associations. A broad involvement, which testifies to the great maturity of the city and the commitment to connect to this reflection on the new concept of culture”.

The path “towards the Pact of Monasteries” was presented as part of the initiatives of “The living nature of culture“, events scheduled until May, promoted by the Municipality’s Sustainability Department to explore the connections between the four elements of life (air, water, earth and fire) and join them to The nature of culture of Pesaro 2024. Maria Rosa Conti, councilor for Sustainability of Pesaro, recalled the value of the word ‘civilitas’ understood as community spirit and “the dutiful commitment of politics and local authorities to take care of it, of the community and of creation together with many allies. The Pact of Monasteries underlines the openness towards the spiritual and religious world so intimately connected to nature, and the need for political decision-makers to turn to them to achieve a necessary and urgent ecological transition. They are lights in the darkness of our difficult times that aim to ‘create a constellation’ and be places of care for the body and soul”.

To weave the bonds of the Pact Grace Francescato, environmentalist leader, “The future we must put together must be guided by three north stars: care; the interconnection of human health with environmental health; triple sustainability. The Pact aims to push for an ‘ora et labora’ of the third millennium; a motto aimed at the care of creation and creatures that implements an ecological conversion as an alchemical path of evolution of collective consciousness, to unravel the deadly plot that marks our contemporaneity”.

The president of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino was present at the meeting Giuseppe Paolini, who reiterated the “Collaboration typical of the life of monasteries, which so reflects the spirit of Pesaro 2024 which has spread, precisely in this perspective, the recognition of the Capital to all 50 Municipalities of the province. In a spirit of sharing that those like me who have lived Gino Girolomoni’s pioneering dream know that he can lead a journey towards protecting the environment, easing its fatigue and suffering”.

Also greeting those present Sandro Salvucci, Metropolitan Archbishop of Pesaro, who underlined: “True culture lies in the capacity for relationships between man and nature; a relationship in which the second is not raped but cherished and cultivated”. Because culture and cultivation have the same root, based “on man’s ability to relate to nature while respecting it. Creating a balance, a dialogue” he concluded before quoting the tercet of the Cantino delle Creature by Saint Francis of Assisi which reports “Laudato si’, mi’ Signore, per frate focus, for whom you enlighten the night, and it is beautiful et iocundo et robustoso et forte” to underline the value of the fire element for man and culture.

The representatives of the Monasteries participating in the route including: the Monastery of the Camaldolese Monks of Fonte Avellana; the Girolomoni family monastery in Isola del Piano; the Girolomini Monastery in the San Bartolo Park in Pesaro, the San Leonardo al Palco Monastery, Prato; Altare Ashram, Savona.

The meeting ended with the speech “Fire, the element of heat and light” by the animator of Laudato Sì Tiziana Gallo. Also aimed at the combination of science/art/spirituality is the appointment scheduled for the afternoon, at 5.30 pm, in the Alusfera in Piazza del Popolo, together with the scientist Valerio Rossi Albertini, physicist from the CNR, who will propose a scientific demonstration entitled: “Fiery Climate?”. Will also participate Vincenzo Fanoprofessor of the Pure and Applied Sciences Department of the University of Urbino.

COVENANT OF MONASTERIES

The main idea of the Pact is that FIRE, used over the centuries for alchemical processes, could trigger in this difficult historical period an alchemical/spiritual process that unites some leading monasteries engaged in the care and safeguarding of culture (as they already did in Middle Ages) and ecological conversion, in the wake of integral ecology desired by Pope Francis. In the Third Millennium a key factor is represented by the dialogue between faiths: and this is the reason why we invited the Hindus of the Matha Gitananda Ashram of Altare (Savona). It is a question not only of deepening the role of spiritual entities, real points of light in the darkness, but of helping them to form a constellation, to structure themselves as places of care for the body and soul.

The first signatory monasteries would be: Monastery of the Camaldolese Monks of Fonte Avellana, with Dom Gianni Giacomelli; Monastery of the Girolomoni family in Isola del Piano, founded by Pietro Gambacorta from Pisa and for centuries the seat of the Girolomini, Maria Girolomoni, Girolomoni foundation; Girolomini monastery in the San Bartolo park in Pesaro, Maria Balsamo, Zanucchi family Pompeii; Monastery of San Leonardo al Palco (Prato), headquarters of the Community of the Rebuilders, Father Guidalberto Bormolini; Altare Ashram (Savona), Shuddhananda and Kriyananda Ahsram.
