the team remains in Setti’s hands

Verona, 27 April 2024 – Seizure revoked quota estimate, Maurizio Setti remains head of theHellas Verona. It is the sports club itself that announced the decision of the Bologna prosecutor’s office, which yesterday 26 April ordered the release of the share package of Star Ball srl, equal to 100% Hellas. The measure was taken in December, when the owner of the team ended up under investigation for fraudulent bankruptcy.

“The revocation of the preventive seizure – underlines Verona on its website – is consequent to the fulfillment of the conditions for the closure of bankruptcy H23, following the agreements concluded between Maurizio Setti’s companies and the Delta, Lonestar and Santa Benessere companies”. The prosecutor’s suspicion concerned the accused movement of quotas of Satr Ball – bankrupt in 2021 and registered to Setti – without paying the fee.

With 15 points in the standings and three ahead on the third to last position, the release of the share package would guarantee the Hellas’s stay in Serie A also for next season. A salvation that previously seemed far away and which has now become much more than a simple dream: Verona enjoys another victory.

The news concerns the ownership and, consequently, the team and refers to the legal proceedings involving president Setti. In a note published this morning, the club announced that “on 26 April 2024, the Bologna Prosecutor’s Office ordered the revocation of the preventive seizure of the entire participation of the Hellas Verona FC spa company and the consequent return of participation to the entitled person Star Ball spa of Maurizio Setti”.

Verona’s note concludes with Maurizio Setti and his companies – who “also thank the pool of their lawyers (Vittorio Manes of Bologna, Fabio Lattanzi of Rome, Nicola Avanzi and Paolo Pasetto of Verona) for effective defense carried out in the precautionary criminal proceedings” – now “concluded with the revocation of the preventive seizure”.

The seizure of the entire shareholding controlled by President Setti’s company was carried out last year December 20th by the financial police. There was a behind it judicial brawl between Setti himself and the entrepreneur Gabriele Volpiwhich began after the breakup between the two.

The president had been investigated for fraudulent bankruptcy and the seizure order – which however had not affected the heritage of Veronabut only Star Ball’s shareholdings – had shifted corporate control to a trustee.

In February, the Court of Review had the appeal was rejected advanced by Setti’s lawyers, but in the end the release from seizure came after one negotiation Between the parts.
