Virtus Ragusa plays ahead of Milazzo

The withdrawal will last less than expected. Virtus Ragusa, after finishing in second place in the Gold Play-Ins of the Interregional Serie B championship, will return to the field on Sunday 5 May, at 7pm, against Svincolati Milazzo: game 1 of the quarter-finals of the Promotion Playoffs is up for grabs . This was communicated by the FIP Regional Committee, which accepted the request to bring forward the match. The match will be played at PalaPadua. Game 2, however, will be played on Sunday 12 May, at 6pm, at the PalaMilone in Milazzo. For the possible “beautiful” one, however, the PalaPadua remains booked for Wednesday the 15th at 8pm.

Meanwhile, the team resumed training on Thursday afternoon under the orders of coach Recupido and the technical staff. The head-to-head matches with Milazzo, which date back to the first phase of the season, saw Virtus excel. The Ragusan team, in fact, won the first leg, away, 90-80, thanks to a splendid comeback in the last two quarters and five players in double figures; on the return leg, after a balance that lasted for more than two quarters, Ragusa took off thanks to baskets from Brown and Gaetano, who scored 44 points between them, and won clearly 88-72. Milazzo is a healthy team, which in the second phase of the championship, in the Silver group of the Play-Ins, collected 6 victories in 8 matches, including the decisive one on the Marigliano pitch on the last day.

Coach Recupido, after his boys qualified for the Playoffs, commented on the pairing with the Svincolati: “I said from the start of the championship that it was a good team, well trained, one of those that plays basketball better. He’s not an easy opponent, but the beauty of the playoffs is that you play against competitive teams, and whoever has the most wins. It will be a good series.”
