Stolen from Fabriano and (to a lesser extent) Spello in 2018, Assisi loses now, God help us, to Rome. The official announcement – which seems to have been known in the city for a few weeks – arrived in the latest issue of the weekly magazine Sorrisi, where Maria Pia Ammirati, director of Rai Fiction, revealed a new concept and a new location.
As stated on the Sorrisi website, Ammirati explains that “We will see (Che Dio ci helps 8, ed.) in 2025. Elena Sofia Ricci will appear in some episodes and Francesca Chillemi will represent the heart of the story. The location changes: from Assisi we will move to Rome and we will no longer be in a convent but in a shelter for girls in difficulty. The series will continue to keep up with the times by describing a country that is changing. Always drawing from current issues”.
Having arrived in Assisi in 2018 to shoot the fifth season in “hidden” locations – which for TV still took place in the “old” convent -, Che Dio ci helps was officially moved to Assisi for the sixth and seventh seasons and – also in period of the pandemic – in addition to an excellent advertising showcase, it had also been an economic “engine” for various activities in the area, bringing around 50 people including technicians and actors to Assisi.
