ROME – The super SUV Lamborghini Urus becomes hyper with the new SE, the first plug-in hybrid version of the model from the Sant’Agata Bolognese company. Thanks to a new design, optimized aerodynamics, new on-board technology and a hybrid powertrain of 800 HP and 950 Nm, the new version exhibited at the Beijing motor show offers the highest torque and power values ever with a reduction in emissions equal to 80%.

“With Urus we have changed the paradigms in the SUV world, inaugurating a new segment – underlined Stephan Winkelmann, chairman and CEO Lamborghini – In just a few years Urus has become the best seller of the brand, allowing Lamborghini to attract new customers and strengthen itself in the most important. With Urus SE we are taking a further step towards the future, in line with our Cor Tauri management strategy, continuing with the electrification of the range and the path towards decarbonisation, which began with the introduction of the Revuelto super sports car in March 2023”.

According to the company, Urus SE offers a higher driving experience thanks also to the hybrid system which helps to improve performance and dynamics on every surface, offering more torque and power at all speeds thanks to innovations such as the introduction of the distributor of electronic torque between the two axles and to the electronic self-locking rear differential. The 4.0 V8 biturbo engine has been optimized to work in synergy with the electric unit and the 25.9 kWh lithium ion battery, located below the loading floor. The permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, upstream of the new 8-speed automatic gearbox, can act as a boost for the V8 combustion engine but also as a traction element, which makes Urus SE a 100% electric 4WD vehicle capable of traveling over 60 km in EV mode.

The new SE, the most powerful Urus ever, sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds (Urus S: 3.5) and from 0-200 km/h in 11.2 seconds (Urus S: 12 ,5), reaching a maximum speed of 312 km/h (Urus S: 305 km/h).

“The front bonnet is inspired by that of the Revuelto and gives the front a very clean and at the same time muscular appearance – explains Mitja Borkert, design director – Furthermore, the front light clusters have a new, distinctive light signature.

The rear emphasizes the width of the proportions thanks to the new diffuser and the license plate holder positioned lower than the Urus S, while the grille pays homage to Lamborghini super sports cars such as the Gallardo. The interior design reflects our ‘feel like a pilot’ philosophy, increasing the interaction between the pilot and the digital system.”

The passenger compartment is dominated by the large 12.3″ display and in the center of the console we find the “Tamburo” selector which allows you to select the different driving modes which add four new “Electric Performance Strategies” to the six of the Urus. The EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance and Recharge strategies are therefore added to the Road, Sport, Racing, Snow, Sand and Terra modes. Furthermore, based on the set mode, the height from the ground changes which varies from -15 mm in Corsa up to +75 mm when the lifting system is activated compared to the normal set-up, in addition to the parameters that regulate steering, handling, mapping and sound of the twin-turbo V8. As always, the possibilities for customizing the car are practically infinite thanks to the Ad Personam program.
