Gudmundsson reveals he searched for Genoa on Google before moving

Inter and Juventus are just two of the big names in European football that they have set their sights on Albert Gudmundsson. Moreover, the Icelandic’s season with the Genoa shirt has been under the spotlight for some time now, thanks to the numbers and performances of the class of ’97 who is destined to catalyze attention on the market next summer. In a recent interview with The Telegraph, however, Gudmundsson himself seems to have clear ideas regarding his future: “I really want to test myself at the highest possible level. Since I was a child I have always dreamed of playing in Premier League, it’s something I want to try.”

In the meantime, for Gudmundsson – valued at least 40 million by Genoa – the task of finishing the season in the best possible way with the rossoblù: “Let’s see what happens at the end of the season. At the moment I have a contract with Genoa (until 2027) and I’m fine. I’m very happy with my season with the rossoblù in Serie A: I have some decent qualities such as good finishing, good passing, good set pieces.”

Gudmundsson also explained to The Telegraph that the inspiration comes from his great-grandfather, who was called Albert like him. In the 1940s he played for Milan and then for Arsenal: “he was the second foreigner in the history of the Gunners, he reached exceptional levels that I too dream of reaching”.

Finally, a passage on the beginning of his adventure at Genoa: “I didn’t know the technical staff and the club, but after a quick Google search I was convinced in a few minutes to get on the plane and start my adventure with the rossoblù”.
