Pescara, 26 April. (askanews) – In Pescara, where Fratelli d’Italia is meeting for three days facing the sea which is formally a programmatic conference but in fact is the start of the electoral campaign for the European elections, the candidacy of Giorgia Meloni as head of the list is the secret by Pulcinella: everyone knows that he will do it but they continue to feed a suspense that isn’t there by filling the sentences with “if” and conditional verbs. In all, during the three days which will have its highlight on Sunday with the speech by the Prime Minister, 20 debates are planned, distributed in three different rooms. In the mega tensile structure set up on the seafront of the Abruzzo capital, Europe, agriculture, work and foreign policy are discussed. But already from the first day, which falls the day after April 25th, a figure can be seen which seems to outline the mood that could characterize the communication strategy that Meloni will use in the coming weeks.
The Minister of Relations with Parliament, Luca Ciriani, gives the first signal. Usually very calm, he becomes animated especially when he points the finger at “those many teachers” who yesterday and in recent days “have taken to the chair” to “give us lessons”. But even harsher is the attack that comes from the undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council, Alfredo Mantovano, who begins his speech in the panel ‘The Europe of conservatives: values and identities’, recalling that “today is April 26th and we have behind us the anniversary of an important event that occurred about 80 years ago”. What follows is a speech which, starting from the memory of a university lesson, and based on the distinction between historical fascism and demonological fascism, quickly turns into an attack on those who in his opinion are trying to use the labels “sovereignism” and “populism” as a “weapon of mass exclusion.” a similar automatism whereby you are a sovereignist or a populist, you are not even entitled to participate in the European assembly”. The undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council then underlines how “the true rule of law is the one which sees Europe at the service of the peoples and not States that represent those peoples at the service of bureaucrats and judges.” Not only. Mantovano also contests the European Parliament’s decision to ask for abortion to be added to the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. “I trust that the new Parliament that we are going to elect will no longer write similar pages not only in terms of content but because they are completely outside the perimeter”.
