The Gela Remembrance Park, open and with free access, immediately received acclaim on this 25th April. In just a few hours, around 1,500 tickets were sold. Many took the opportunity to visit the site, inside the Acropolis of Molino a Vento. The only flaw, probably, is the spontaneous vegetation which was not eliminated promptly.
Archaeological tourism could be the turning point for Gela in which to invest and start again. Unfortunately, entry to the Timoleonte walls on Sundays is off limits. The site closed last Sunday, forcing some tourists to turn back.
Proof of how archaeological areas can be an attraction in the city, if they were always usable and waiting for the two museums to open their doors, the regional one and the sea museum structure. The initiative was the Promotion Committee for the recovery of Gela’s territorial assets.
