Travertine falls from the porticoes of Via Grande

LIVORNO – The Fire Brigade, the Civil Protection and the Urban Police intervened this afternoon at 5.20 pm due to pieces of travertine falling from the architraves of the porticoes that form the corner at the end of Via Grande with Piazza Guerrazzi. The fall of the material, estimated in pieces of about half a meter or more, occurred on both sides of the structure. The area was immediately cordoned off and closed to pedestrians and will remain so until it is made safe. The administrators of the condominiums of the affected porticoes have contacted their surveyors to verify the damage suffered and arrange repairs.
