How can you avoid paying the entrance ticket to Venice

The Municipality of Venice has introduced the entrance ticket for daily tourists who visit the lagoon city. Those wishing to visit Venice without paying the entrance ticket, however, still have several options.

Since last Thursday the Municipality of Venice has introduced the entrance ticket for daily tourists who visit the lagoon city. This is a ticket from sum of 5 euros daily to be paid per person and without any reduction, including minors aged 14 and over. Whoever wanted visit Venice without paying for the ticket input, however, still has several possibilities. The same regulation that introduced the so-called access fee for Venice, in fact, provides very specific days, times and places in which you must pay.

First of all, the ticket is compulsory only for the ancient city of Venice while, whoever wants, you can visit, without paying, the so-called smaller islands such as the Lido of Venice (including Alberoni and Malamocco), Pellestrina, Murano, Burano, Torcello, Sant’Erasmo, Mazzorbo, Mazzorbetto, Vignole, S. Andrea, the Certosa, San Servolo, S. Clemente, Poveglia.

Furthermore, you can avoid paying the entrance ticket visit Venice on days when it is less crowded, however, meeting the Municipality’s objective of discouraging daily tourism in certain periods of the year. In fact, the ticket is paid only on specific days when a greater influx of tourists is expected. In total there are only 29 days on which you pay: from 25 to 30 April, from 1 to 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26 May; 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30 June and 6, 7, 13 and 14 July. For the rest of the year you don’t have to pay anything.

How is the first day of testing the entrance ticket to Venice going?

If you really don’t want to give up these days, you can avoid paying the entrance ticket to Venice carrying out your tourist visit in the late afternoon. In fact, the contribution is not due from 4pm onwards. Likewise, you can opt for the early morning because the ticket only opens after 8.30 and thus also enjoy the sunrise over the lagoon city.

Finally it is possible stay in an accommodation facility in the city and register regularly and thus avoid the ticket. In this case, however, you pay the tourist tax and you will have to register on the portal https://cda.ve.it, the same web platform that allows you to book entry and pay the 5 euros per person.
