Bergamo. It kicked off on Friday (26 April) at the Bergamo Fair AND THE, the construction fair organized by Promoberg, which will last until Sunday 28 April. Entry is free, with the possibility of registering online on the event website or directly at the entrance. Opening hours are from 9am to 7pm.

This year’s event is the twenty-eighth edition and marks the restart of a long-term project in the Bergamo area, which represents the most important Italian economic district in the construction sector. At 10.45am, numerous institutional, associative and business authorities attended the inaugural ceremony.

During the interventions, Luciano Patelli and Davide Lenarduzzi, respectively president and managing director of Promoberg, highlighted the importance of the active involvement of the associative and institutional system in the construction sector: “The active participation of the entire associative and institutional system of the construction sector – Confartigianato, Cna and Lia, Ance, Cassa Edile, Construction School, Joint Territorial and Artisan Committee, Edilcassa Artigiana – to which are added the university, bilateral bodies, the world of finance and important partnerships. Bergamo thus returns to being, also at a trade fair level, the capital of the Italian construction industry; the meeting and discussion place for all the players in the supply chain, representing a new model of construction, which has its roots in tradition, but is, at the same time, projected into the future, focusing on technological innovations, sustainability and safety. The synergies created around Edil are good for the health of the sector, but also contribute to the promotion of our territory in terms of tourism and culture, confirming Bergamo as an excellence on a global level”.

Alberto Capitanio, Edil project manager, reiterated the central role of construction in the Bergamo area, underlining the quality and competence present in the district: “Construction for our territory goes far beyond being a fundamental sector for the economy and employment, because it is part of our soul and history. Let’s start again with a hundred realities, wanting to recreate an ecosystem in which apparently competing interests coexist in the work but united by the desire to grow the sector, which recognizes in Bergamo in particular quality in design and construction that is uncommon in any other European district”.

He also attended the inauguration Attilio Fountain, president of the Lombardy Region, who expressed his full support for the construction sector, highlighting the investments and regional laws in favor of urban regeneration and the redevelopment of historic centres: “I certainly couldn’t miss the return of this very important fair wanting to underline the importance of the construction sector for our Region, one of the most important sectors for our GDP and for our employment. It is therefore completely obvious that we will continue to support it as it deserves, as already demonstrated with all the financed laws on urban regeneration, on the restart in the redevelopment of historic centres, but above all with law 9 of 2020 regarding interventions for economic recovery ( with over 4 billion in investments in public works) to restart construction. Now, between our regional measures, the Pnrr, the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics and the 110%, perhaps there is even too much work to do, but we must ensure that this particularly positive moment continues, for the good of all and also thinking of the new generations, allowing the creation of a sustainable and technologically advanced heritage, also stimulated by European standards, which however must have more adequate timing”.

Renato Guatterini, vice-president of Ance Bergamo, promoted the beauty and sustainability of buildings: “Ance feels at home at this fair, to promote beauty (also in construction) and technology, for an increasingly green and sustainable home that allows to save 50% of consumption”. While, Hyacinth Giambellinipresident of Confartigianato Imprese Bergamo, representing the Bergamo Artisan Associations and the Bergamo Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the excellence and value of the artisans in the sector and proudly underlined: “We must remember that
we are the best, and we will never give up.”

Sergio Gandi, deputy mayor of the Municipality of Bergamo, expressed the importance of the return of the fair for businesses and for those who live in increasingly technologically advanced and sustainable homes: “A return that is good for all businesses and for those who live in the home on a daily basis. A fair that gives voice to one of the most important sectors on an economic and social level and that allows you to live in increasingly technologically advanced and sustainable buildings. Thanks therefore to a very important fair for our territory, but which deals with topics of great interest at a national level”.

Pasquale Gandolfi, president of the province of Bergamo, praised the competence and quality of the construction sector in the Bergamo area: “For the restart of the Bergamo Building Fair, I say this as an administrator and an architect. We are talking about a supply chain made up of competent people, who know how to work well, with high quality, within established times and paying maximum attention to the issue of safety. In the Bergamo area we still have numerous construction sites for large public works open, one of the many flagships of Made in Bergamo”; While Lara Magoni, regional undersecretary with responsibility for Sport and Youth, highlighted the importance of the fair in promoting the excellence of the territory: “The Bergamo fair represents our city in the world, the excellence of our territory. As a family we have always breathed the air of construction sites, so I know well the realities present during these three days at the fair, made up of skills and passions, which make us great in Italy and abroad”.

In the end, Claudia Third parties, regional councilor for Infrastructure and Public Works, expressed his desire to make the fair grow in the years to come: “The fair returns with the declared objective of growing constantly in the coming years. After fluctuating moments, we are in the midst of new challenges, given by the Pnrr and by the actions at regional level, which, if on the one hand they have already borne excellent fruit (e.g. the A4 roundabout in Bergamo), can in the coming years lead to a further leap in quality, putting fundamental works on the ground.”

The fair, in addition to promoting innovation in the sector, encourages discussion between companies, professionals and representatives of politics and economics, with events such as conferences, workshops and information meetings. Congress events continue during the weekend.

EDIL 2024 It counts on important sponsors such as Banco BPM Credito Bergamasco and Intesa Sanpaolo, Cribis and Utility Diadora, as well as the patronage of the Province of Bergamo and the Bergamo Chamber of Commerce. The participation and enthusiasm demonstrated during this edition confirm the central role of Bergamo in the Italian and international construction panorama, testifying to the commitment and passion of the workers who animate the construction site.
