There is another candidate for mayor in Reggio Emilia. She is Giuliana Reggio, the mother of Jessica Filianti, the young 17-year-old from Reggio Emilia who was the victim of feminicide way back in 1996 and a symbol of the fight against violence against women. Her candidacy – together with a list made up of 18 women and 14 men (the maximum number expected) – was made official today by Alleanza civica, the list founded ten years ago by Cinzia Rubertelli which initially seemed to support Giovanni Tarquini.

“For the third time the women and men of Alleanza Civica present themselves to the city in the awareness of interpreting the requests of that large part of the citizens who no longer feel represented by the national parties – they explain in a note – This is more evident considering that the parties sought civic candidates to cover their own political and local representation shipwreck, only to then nullify the civic nature of these “civic” candidates in the old party logic. In this context, our desire is to propose a city project that makes it safer, more orderly and attractive.”

“Here we are, ready for the electoral challenge – declared Giuliana Reggio – we have a team of willing, competent citizens, who no longer want to complain or even continue to suffer a self-referential and even somewhat arrogant administration, enthusiastic about being able to make your contribution for the good of the city. We know that it will be an uphill race, but also very stimulating and conducted on the wings of an enthusiasm that has never been lacking in the Civic Alliance. After the fruitless attempts to create a united front of the moderate oppositions, we have realized that the center-right is more concerned with its internal dynamics than with trying to win and bring an authentic alternative. Alleanza Civica has decided to continue its ten-year journey alone, at least in the first round, for a truly civic, non-partisan change, focused on the desire for change that the city has been waiting for for some time.”

“I love meeting citizens and talking to them about concrete problems, trying to understand possible solutions – says Giuliana – Listening to people is essential to understanding the city’s true needs. Whoever has administered it in recent years has lost contact with the citizens, which I will never want to lose. We need to reawaken the healthy pride of Reggio Emilia and the skills we are rich in, to relaunch a city that for too long has been immobilized in a sort of torpor that smacks of resignation. Mine will be an electoral campaign among the people, whom I will ask to reconfirm the presence of Alleanza Civica in the City Council, one of the few lively, authoritative and authentic voices of the opposition. With me, to talk about the ideas for the relaunch of our Reggio Emilia, there will also be the thirty-two candidates of Alleanza Civica, respectable people convinced and motivated as never before, we are not interested in seats but in the commitment of a team that continues to be represented. Those who wanted the Civic Alliance in pieces should resign themselves, because we are here and we are all in one piece.”

Giuliana Reggio and the candidates of Alleanza Civica are available to meet citizens every Friday morning from 9.00 to 13.00 at the Bar Caffè Reggianello in Corso G. Garibaldi n. 38 and every Monday from 9.00 to 11.00 at the Bar Nuovo Reggianello in via Emilia Santo Stefano n. 28/D.
