The police stop him, he flees and then attacks them

Copparo. A Nigerian citizen, arrested for a routine check to road traffic, tried to escape from the Copparo police. Once reached, he attempted to beat up the two soldiers who, however, managed to overcome his resistance, arresting him.

It happened in Copparo, in the late evening of Wednesday 24 April, when a patrol stopped a car for a normal road traffic check in Tamara. The occupant of the stopped car, a 41-year-old Nigerian citizen, he tried to escape control when the military has verification of documents has begun and the car, fleeing and forcing the carabinieri, with the support of colleagues from Ferrara who intervened to help, to chase him.

An escape which, however, was very short-lived, being achieved shortly after. That’s when the 41-year-old has attempted the path of violence to force the military to interrupt their control, kicking and punching them in order to make them desist, but provoking a reaction from the soldiers who neutralized it through the use of stinging spray.

Only then was the 41-year-old calmed down and arrested for resisting violence and resistance as well as for having procured injuries to a public official.

After the identification procedures he was placed under house arrest in his home and on the morning of April 26th he appeared in court in Ferrarawith the judge validating the arrest by postponing the hearing.
