Tomorrow, Saturday 27 April, it will take place in Casaboli forest, above the Pioppo hamlet of the municipality of Monreale (Palermo), the third joint Civil Protection exercise dedicated to forest and interface firefighting. The same activities have already taken place in recent days in the provinces of Catania and Messina. The aim of these exercises is to test in the field the level of training and operation achieved by the specialized volunteers in the AIB and, at the same time, also to encourage a common line of conduct between all the operational bodies involved in the various forecasting activities, contrast and management of emergencies related to fire risk: Forestry Corps of the Sicily Region, Fire Brigade, Regional Department of Sicilian Civil Protection.
This one in Palermo is the last of the three planned joint exercises and for its conduct the Casaboli Forest above the hamlet of Pippo in the municipality of Monreale was identified. The site is suitable for carrying out training activities on techniques for combating forest fires, but also for interface fires, given the presence of buildings near which it is possible to simulate such scenarios. The event will start at nine in the morning and end at 5pm. The Fire Brigade and Forestry teams will lead the fire tests of the volunteers (around 200) coming from Palermo, Agrigento and Trapani. The final briefing will take place at 4pm, to which mayors, administrators and technicians from local authorities have been invited. During the exercises, the President of the Region, Renato Schifani, will stop by for a greeting.
