LA SPEZIA – It was inaugurated on April 25, 2024, at the ex’s entrance Quintino Sella anti-aircraft shelter in La Speziathe work Yesterday Today and Tomorrow created by the artist Ozmo at the invitation of the Ligurian Municipality.
It is an exciting and evocative mural that fits perfectly into the historical and symbolic context of the place. Used as a shelter from bombing during the Second World Warthe shelter, thanks to a skilful redevelopment intervention, has been transformed into a Gallery dedicated to the historical memory of the city last June.
Ozmo: a symbolic and timeless work
At the center of the work site-specific of Ozmo, a smiling child’s face which immediately captures the attention of the observer. “Using anamorphosis – explains Ozmo – I represented the face of a smiling child who, expanding on the walls of the corridor, looks directly at us, questioning us. This technique not only amplifies theMona Lisa effect creating the illusion that the entire head moves to follow us, thus generating an even stronger emotional impact, but transforms the side walls into a space of celestial radiant light.”
Evoking the principles of the Japanese philosophy of “But” he was born in Tao Te Chingwhere the void takes on a profound and significant value, the walls, freed from their original function and transformed into canvases of light, become an integral part of the work, amplifying its impact emotional and guiding the gaze towards the child, the fulcrum of the composition.
The child embodies all generations, evoking peace, purity and openness towards the future. The smiling image of him projects an optimistic vision of tomorrow, inviting us to reflect on our historical legacy and our future aspirations.
The historical context
Yesterday Today and Tomorrow it dialogues with the context that welcomes it, enriching it with a new narrative layer. The entrance to the air raid shelter, witness to war events, is transformed into a bridge between erasa a place of memory where the history of the past is intertwined with hope. Through an immersive experience it reminds us of the importance of the past and of dialogue between generations for build a better future, of peace and hope.
