Animal health, i.e. diagnosis of animal diseases, and microbiological and chemical controls on foods that are taken not only from slaughterhouses, but also from final marketing plants. These are the two main focuses of the Cuneo section of the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d’Aosta. Saverio Marco Di Trani, responsible veterinary manager, illustrates the activity. Since 2022, the regional reference center for surveillance on snail pathologies, the healthiness of derived food products and environmental sustainability (Celi) has also found a home in the premises at number 11 of via Sandro Pertini. Guido Giordana, president of the Consortium of the snail of Borgo and its valleys, outlines the state of the art of heliciculture in the province of Cuneo, Alberico Franzin, researcher of the Zooprophylactic Institute, talks about the two fronts of action of Celi, research and the systematization of knowledge on the subject.
