“The ‘Cesenati also noi’ party which took place yesterday afternoon at the Serravalle Gardens was a great success. Promoted by the municipal administration with the precious collaboration of numerous local entities and associations, which we thank for their commitment and teamwork, demonstrating that in Cesena beautiful things are done together, it had the intention of raising awareness on the topic of recognition of Italian citizenship to minors born in Italy to foreign parents or born abroad but who have completed a cycle of studies in Italy”. This was stated in a note from the Cesena Democratic Party.

The Dems detail: “As the Democratic Party of Cesena we are satisfied with this symbolic but strong step. In 2022, in fact, we proposed and approved an Agenda in the City Council that went precisely in this direction. The municipal administration believed in us right from the start and followed up on our political proposal. However, we know – the Dems highlight – that this is a step forward in the direction of inclusion and integration but not a conclusive one. The liberation from the uncertainty of these young people in fact passes through the revision of the current state law”.

“Ours is the sign of a city that does not want to make anyone feel out of place, of a welcoming and supportive city, of a city that will not give up until there is a change in the current law, which dates back to 1992. Today in Cesena we have almost 10% of the population is foreign and we cannot pretend nothing has happened. Unfortunately, however, it seems to us that the issue of citizenship is not on the government’s political agenda but we will continue this political battle, because for young people these are difficult and difficult situations. unjust.”
