False requirements for tax breaks for diesel: two companies discovered

The soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza of Piacenza and the officials of the Customs and Monopolies Agency of Piacenza have started an investigative activity in recent weeks, carried out by cross-referencing the information present in their respective
databases, aimed at verifying the correct existence of the requirements required for
obtaining the tax break on commercial diesel.
This concession allows companies that carry out goods transport activities and have the exclusive use of vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes to obtain tax credits to cover the excise duties paid relating to diesel fuel consumed, through the presentation of a specific request to the competent Customs and Monopolies office.

In particular, checks were carried out on two companies, attributable to the same people, who, in the first nine months of 2023, had offset the documented credits.
During the operations, the military and officials found, in relation to one of the two companies, the absence of any corporate structure and the failure to install, unlike what was certified, a tank used for the storage of excise duties.
Furthermore, in the company’s registered office there was, in reality, a tax consultancy firm.
In relation to the second company, the checks revealed that it did not have exclusive possession of the vehicles indicated in the reimbursement request.
Furthermore, the latter turned out to be, in reality, registered to the first company.
The legal representatives of the two companies were reported for the crimes of undue receipt of public funds and ideological falsehood committed by a private individual in a public act.
