Two trams collided at the Gazzi terminus. Probably due to an illness, the driver who was entering the terminus lost control of the vehicle which crashed into another car. The man was transported by ambulance to the Polyclinic. No other person was hurt because the two vehicles were completely empty. However, the damage to the vehicles was extensive. The tram service is suspended from Villa Dante to Gazzi in both directions.

The ATM press release

Due to an accident involving two tram cars this morning at the Bonino terminus, the tram service is currently active exclusively on the Villa Dante – Museum route. During the afternoon, at the end of the removal operations of the damaged cars, the service will resume on the entire route with reduced frequency. Support for the 28 Velocittà bus line is already active, connecting the two terminals with a dedicated route. All further changes will be communicated on the ATM website and on our Telegram and WhatsApp channels.

Regarding what happened, the company specifies that there are no passengers involved, and that it has started the investigation procedure aimed at understanding the causes of the accident and verifying the extent of damage to the cars and any responsibilities.
