The State Police has implemented a precautionary custody order under house arrest, issued by the investigating judge at the Court of Foggia, against four people subjected to preliminary investigations for receiving stolen goods. The investigation, started in 2022, arose from a territorial control service, during which the police noticed a van, whose driver fled at the sight of the officers. Subsequently, he was stopped and arrested.
The staff of the Cerignola police station (Foggia), in collaboration with the staff of the Flying Squad and the Foggia Traffic Police section, identified a fictitious commercial activity, within which the suspects would have transferred car parts of furtive origin. Numerous bodywork and mechanical parts of illicit origin were found, made anonymous by removing the distinctive manufacturing signs. The company would have placed the stolen components on the “online” used spare parts market. The business headquarters was subjected to criminal seizure.
During the investigations, two other garages were discovered, inside which other parts of stolen vehicles were found, subsequently returned to their owners.
