An event to celebrate Aldo Manuzio, the humanist publisher born in the town, took place in the Aula Magna of the “Giovanni Pascoli” Comprehensive Institute of Aprilia last April 19th, in the presence of a representative of the Bassiano municipal council. lepino in 1449 and died in Venice in 1515.

After a detailed presentation made by Prof. Anna Pugliese and greetings from the Headmaster, Prof. Ciro Scognamiglio and prof. Angelo Bianchi, a short film was screened which, skilfully combining moments of a visit by some students of the IC “Pascoli” to Bassiano (led by Mattia Pacilli, scholar of Aldo Manuzio and his fellow villager) with a scene created inside of the same institute (with Gaetano Sicilia in the role of the humanist), ideally covered the entire life path of the illustrious Bassianese, who demonstrated his talent as a publisher and innovator in the lagoon city.

In fact, during the introductory speeches, among others, the invention of the pocket book and cursive writing, as well as the definitive arrangement of punctuation, were mentioned. The viewing of the short film was pleasantly accompanied by the original music composed by the prof. Michele Garolla.

A long warm applause at the end of the screening demonstrated the appreciation of the large audience present.
