A feat of the Cisterna Volley boys, who overturned the result of the first leg, beat and eliminated their opponents from Sir Perugia and qualified for the final eight of the Junior League, the national volleyball tournament which awards the youth championship. Last April 11th in the Umbrian capital, the boys coached by coach Francesco Ronsini were defeated 3-0 by the hosts and it was therefore necessary, in the return match, to equalize the scores and then play it in the “Golden set”, to pass the shift.

The match

Cisterna joins the already qualified Trento, Padova, Monza and Civitanova to which the winner between Modena and Verona and the qualifiers of the ongoing play-offs between the A2 and A3 series teams will have to join. Satisfied coach Francesco Ronsini, who leads the team that Cisterna has set up with Marino Pallavolo with which he has a project underway for the management of the youth sector.

«We knew it would be a difficult match – commented the coach – Especially because we were starting from the defeat of the first leg. The boys took to the field determined to win the victory, aware that they would then have to play for qualification for the Golden set.”

«Our blocking made the difference, especially in the first two sets. From the third onwards the difference on the pitch between the two teams emerged more evident and we ended the match with a peremptory 25-16. In the Golden set we immediately made the decisive break 11-4, Perugia came back with a serve that put us in difficulty, but we did well not to lose concentration and ended the match to our advantage.”
