EMILIA-ROMAGNA: Tourism, attendance grows in the quarter

In the first quarter of the year, tourist presences in Emilia-Romagna grew. The greatest increase is that of the Riviera, but hilly and spa resorts are also doing well. Here are the numbers.

The data referring to the January-March quarter of this year confirm the good state of health of tourism in Emilia-Romagna. In fact, the presence of Italians and foreigners is growing, exceeding 3.9 million, with a growth of almost 10% compared to the same period in 2023. And it is worth noting the fact that compared to the pre-pandemic record year, 2019, the increase is even 12%.

Numbers that especially cheer up Romagna given that its Riviera is the driving force behind the regional sector. In percentage, the coast is the one that expands its flows the most: overnight stays were a quarter more this year.

Analyzing the data province by province, in Romagna the lion’s share goes to Rimini, exceeding 900 thousand presences in the first three months of the year. Ravenna and Forlì-Cesena each have a volume of about a third compared to Rimini, but record significantly higher growth trends if you go back a year.

The hilly towns, such as Santa Sofia, Castrocaro, Brisighella and the Rimini hills, are also growing in double figures, and the spas are improving. The Apennines are in decline, especially the Emilian one, due to the mild winter which brought little snow.

The flow of Bologna and Ferrara is much slower when compared to the expansion of the flows of the Romagna provinces, even if it is in the regional capital that the greatest mass of presences continues to concentrate.
