The appointment with the new edition of the fun race that colors the city is about to return. Traffic revolution in the centre: the “mobility plan” and the closed roads

Everything is ready for the new edition of “StraPapa-StraPalermo”the recreational walk, organized by ACSI Western Sicily with the patronage and co-organization of the Municipality, which sees fathers and children running together coloring the streets of the historic center of the city.

A few days after its return, Sunday 5 May, there are already many registered participants and it promises to be – once again – one of the most attended events in Italy. (The complete program of the new edition is in one of our articles)

In view of the event and the high number of participants, the Mobility Office of the Municipality of Palermo has published an ordinance regulating traffic in the center to allow the race to take place.

In fact, there were numerous road closures and bans, mostly in the city centre, on Sunday 5 May.

Here is the traffic plan for the “StraPad”.

From 10.00 am (and until the need ceases) on May 5th, the following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:

Adv

Castelnuovo Square, including the roadway connecting Turati/Ruggiero Settimo;
– via Ruggero Settimo;
via Cavour stretch between Via Pignatelli Aragona and Via R. Settimo/Piazza Verdi. The vehicles coming from Piazza Verdi and away
– via Cavour stretch between Via R. Settimo and via Roma;
– via Villaermosa (entire stretch);
– via Bentivegna in the Villermosa/Roma section;
– via F. Guardione in the via Roma/via Villaermosa section;
– via P.pe di Granatelli Wagner/Roma section;
via Rome in the stretch between Via Cavour and Piazza L. Sturzo (the semi-roadway on the mountain side closes to cars and a one-way traffic system is established from Via Cavour to Piazza Sturzo;
– Piazza L. Sturzo, in the stretch between Via Giuseppe Puglisi Bertolino and Via Roma (it is forbidden to park in the stretch between Via Domenico Scinà and Via Roma (Mountain side).

Furthermore, the following roads are also closed to cars:
– via Domenico Scinà, in the stretch between piazza L. Sturzo and via Turati
– goes Filippo Turati (entire stretch)

Liberty Avenue valley side:
– via Nicolò Gallo section Daita/Libertà:
– via Torrearsa section Daita/Libertà:
– via E. Albanese in the Simone Corleo/Libertà section.
Parking bans will also come into effect on the same streets (both sides) starting from midnight on May 5th.

Crispi Square in the stretch between the central lane and the downstream side;
Piazza Mordini in the stretch between the mountain roadway and the central roadway of Viale della Libertà. Vehicles coming from via G. La Farina/Mordini will be obliged to turn right into the side mountain lane of Viale Della Libertà;

– Viale della Libertà, central carriageway of the stretch between Piazza Francesco Crispi Mordini and Via Turati/Castelnuovo.
Piazza Castelnuovo section Dante-Libertà: the semi-lane towards Via Turati closes to cars. Vehicles coming from Via Dante
at the intersection with Piazza Castelnuovo they will be obliged to turn left onto via XX Settembre.

Finally, the crossings of via Archimede/Siracusa and via Mariano Stabile/piazza Marchese di Regalmici will be closed to vehicular transit only when participants pass by.
