Palazzo delle Arti Beltrani celebrates Giacomo Puccini on the centenary of his death with the second appointment of “On the notes of Puccini”. The tea ritual accompanies the musical homage of the Singing School of the ‘N. Piccinni’ of Bari to the great musician. Friday 3 May in Trani

2024 is the year of Puccini celebrations. Palazzo delle Arti Beltrani in Trani continues with the tribute to Giacomo Puccini (Lucca, 22 December 1858 – Brussels, 29 November 1924), one hundred years after his death, dedicating a concert program of great value to the giant of music. The formula dusts off the salon music of the late nineteenth-early twentieth century of bourgeois salons, which ranged from symphonic to operatic music, making use of the young talents of the Singing School of the ‘Niccolò Piccinni’ Conservatory of Bariwith whose collaboration we want to enhance and preserve the legacy of the great Italian composer.

After the success of the first concert on April 12th, it is scheduled Friday 3 May at tea time (from 5pm), the second appointment ofTo the tune of Puccini”, a musical journey in which the audience will be captured by the enveloping voices and piano virtuosity of immortal works, accompanied by an exclusive selection of teas, specifically chosen to harmonize with the emotions transmitted by the music. The intent is to offer a unique sensorial experience that envelops the soul in an enchantment of sounds, scents and flavors through the timeless melodies of Giacomo Puccini, which continue to be loved and represented in theaters all over the world. To enliven the enchanting musical journey even more pleasantly, participants will be able to taste refined infusions and sweet delights while abandoning themselves to the enthralling beauty of Puccini’s notes. I hoped to find you here”, taken from La Bohème, passing through ” Quando me’n vò “, always from the same work, ” Crucifixus ” from the Messa di Gloria, ” Se come voi piccina ” from Le Villi, ” Un bel dì we will see” from Madama Butterfly, “This love, my shame” from Edgar, “O my dear father” from Gianni Schicchi, the very famous “I lived by art from Tosca, “Sole e Amore” and “Donde lieta” from La Bohème.

All the students who will perform in the program “On the notes of Puccini” are enrolled in two-year academic specialization courses at the ‘Niccolò Piccinni’ Conservatory in Bari, which boasts a large number of singing students, both Italian and from many foreign countries.

Puccini’s opera is a combination of originality, realism and passion that continues to enchant audiences around the world. His ability to compose works considered repertoire for the major theaters of the world such as Manon Lescaut (1893), La bohème (1896), Tosca (1900), Madama Butterfly (1904) and the unfinished Turandot (1926) made Puccini the most performed composer in the world after Giuseppe Verdi. For his undisputed value and artistic stature, recognized worldwide, Puccini appears to be for many critics and musicologists the last great and popular composer of our most glorious art form: the opera theatre. The realistic representations, full of action and scenic effects, in which he confirms his ability as a man of the theater and above all the ability to characterize the characters and the drama with an exceptional synthesis between singing, harmony and orchestral timbre have delivered his art and works to immortality.

Giacomo Puccini, considered by most to be the last romantic opera composer, is the composer who revolutionized the musical idea: son of romanticism, he surpasses realism, launches operatic composition towards the future, becoming the father of musicals and didactic music. The scores and the stories narrated by Puccini, the chords, the phrasing take us back to a world of love and experiences such that his music cannot be separated from Puccini the man. His expressive ardors, his love for beauty, his extreme need to feel loved, of a pure, passionate, elective love, lead him to have a constant and irrepressible desire to put into music what he lived within himself, making his work is very current because it is inspired by immortal feelings. His music continues to touch the soul of the human being with its vibrations, both of those who as listeners are fascinated by it, and of those who as performers can do nothing but penetrate the stories and lose themselves in the will of the composer.

For the last date of “On the notes of Puccini”, May 31st, from 5.30 pm we will be able to listen to the students of the teacher’s singing class Antonia Giove: Chiara Teresa Vomero, Simona Lega, Wang Yizhe, Wang Linrui (sopranos); Sheng Jie Gao, Yu Wenxuan (baritones); Gao Shenjie (tenor) and piano Corrado Fondacone.
