“Cesena is now a Conad fiefdom”

The new settlement in an area in Case Frini acquired by Conad, foreseen by Prg 2000 Case Frini, which had the green light after the signing of the agreement with the Municipality – six years to complete, will result in RSAs, commercial establishments, offices, parking, green area and cycle path – triggers the reaction of the centre-right mayoral candidate Marco Casali (FdI).

“This settlement adjacent to Montefiore – launches the Casali attack – confirms that Cesena is a Conad fiefdom. The intervention authorized by the Municipality, which will lead to a new multifunctional area of 45 thousand square metres, determines the risk of further polarization of the city and yet another brake on competition.”

The centre-right candidate’s opinion is that “Conad’s presence in the city is increasingly cumbersome and this is not only demonstrated by the number and size of the sales outlets, but also by projects such as that of Case Frini, which go in the direction of acquiring the available areas so that competition does not grow and develop”.

“On the urban planning question – Casali objects – it should be noted that when we move from propaganda to administrative life, the left disregards the much cherished principle of zero consumption of territory, good for conferences but not for satisfying the requests of comrades engaged in business. But the fact of the matter is that the settlement impacts on consumption and the freedom of choice of the people of Cesena, since competition is significantly reduced, with an increase in costs for the pockets of the people of Cesena. Less competition, less possibility of choosing the best value for money : the cornerstones that the public sector must protect are disregarded in practice”.

The centre-right mayoral candidate also criticizes the RSA which will be built in the Case Frini lot. “This healthcare facility, which appears to be of considerable size, generates many questions – adds Casali -. What will become of the old Bufalini, once the new hospital has finally been built, in terms of conversion to services ancillary to healthcare? Why create a new RSA in a few hundred meters from the old hospital, which could benefit from a conversion in this sense? Does this project approved by the Lattuca council disregard any political direction, does it cement more territory, does not enhance the existing one and limits competition”.
