MACERATED – Tuesday 30 April 2024, to Maceratain Piazza Garibaldi, starting at 10.00, the official ceremony will take place to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the Victory of Porta San Pancrazio obtained in Rome by Garibaldi’s Great Legion in the battle of 30 April 1849. A victory that Garibaldi wanted to dedicate with a grateful heart to the people of Macerata as he had expanded the Legion’s cadres right here in the city.
The plan of 30 April includes, starting from 10.15am, the deployment of the banners and the banner of the Municipality of Macerata in Piazza Garibaldi and, to follow, the start of the ceremony with the playing of the national and Garibaldi anthems and the deposition of a wreath at the foot of the monument dedicated to the hero of the two worlds.
To commemorate the historic victory, the mayor Sandro Parcaroli, the president of the Committee of Understanding between the arms associations of Macerata and the Institute for the history of the Italian Risorgimento – Macerata Committee Carmelo Capuano, the councilor of the ISRI will speak – Macerata Committee Roberto Lorenzini and the journalist and writer Pietro Pistelli.
