140 thousand euro tax evasion discovered in Taranto – Pugliapress

Tax evasion in Taranto: a real “hole” in the water. There Taranto Financial Police cast the net and caught a big fish in the sea economy: a company that, under the façade of harmless boat trips, hid revenues of over 140 thousand euros not declared to the tax authorities.

In depth with the investigation

The Fiamme Gialle of the Taranto group, in an intelligent control action, identified tax irregularities in a company operating in the recreational maritime transport sector. The operation is part of a broader attempt to counter thetax evasion which affects various economic sectors of the region, with particular attention to activities related to maritime tourism.

The company in question, formally registered as an entity “no profit“, it turned out to be very “profitable” for its managers, organizing summer excursions without adequately reporting the earnings. From 2020 to 2023, the failure to declare revenues and VAT evasion of over 31 thousand euros have outlined a picture of illegality.

Impact on the local economy

L’tax evasion in Taranto it is not just a problem of numbers, but a real obstacle to the sustainable development of the territory. These unfair practices distort competition and penalize honest citizens, taking away resources that could be invested in essential public services.

Future perspectives

The investigation paves the way for broader reflections on the need for more widespread fiscal control and effective measures to preventtax evasion in key sectors such as the maritime one, vital for the economy of Taranto and the whole of Puglia.
