Cagliari municipal teams: Action goes with Zedda, wide field at risk

(ANSA) – CAGLIARI, APR 26 – In Sardinia the wide field experiment that led to the election of the first president of the five-star region is starting to creak, the case concerns the municipal councils of Cagliari where the former mayor Massimo Zedda, leader of the Progressives, has just been indicated as a mayoral candidate by the same coalition that supported Alessandra Todde. An indication that also contained a sort of diktat, from the M5S in particular, not to further expand the perimeter of the alliance with the entry of forces that did not support the governor in the regional elections.

But the announcement from Azione arrives: “The provincial board of directors in concert with the regional secretariat of Azione di Calenda announce that they have reached an agreement with Massimo Zedda to support his candidacy for mayor in the municipal elections of Cagliari”, he writes in a note from Sebastiano Tola, provincial secretary. Action, it is specified, “having verified the quality of the programmatic lines of the coalition and of the candidate in line with its objectives, will support Massimo Zedda with its own list, mainly composed of exponents of the world of professions, work and productive activities”. The mayoral candidate himself was soon confirmed: “I am also working in these hours to go further and involve all the democratic forces and movements – writes Zedda – to strengthen the coalition and give the city a new future, of peace, of work and of civil and economic growth. I appreciate, in this sense, Action’s choice to support the coalition’s program and my candidacy for mayor of Cagliari, with its own list”. We are now awaiting the official reaction of the M5s, which would have asked for a clarification, and of the other coalition forces: the news could be the fuse to explode an alliance that has so far only held in Sardinia.
