“The Naples that will come”: FS Sistemi Urbani presented the projects of retraining Of Naples Porta Est and Naples Campi Flegrei.

The redevelopment of these areas is part of the broader process that will affect the Campania capital in the coming years.

This is a transformation of urban areas that aims to return regenerated spaces to the community, with the valorization and urban mending of the city fabric.

FS Urban Systems, lead company of the Group’s Urban Hub FS Italiane, is committed to urban regeneration and strengthening of intermodality in the city of Naples.

Porta Est and Campi Flegrei represent two great investment opportunities within the city, in sites that present:

  • great development potential
  • high accessibility
  • high concentration of strategic functions with different intended uses

The projects for Naples by FS Sistemi Urbani

On the affected areas, the Urban Center of the FS Group is working in synergy with the Infrastructure Hub led by RFI and with the bodies involved: Campania Region, Municipality, Volturno Autonomous Body (EAV).

Among the significant projects we highlight:

The “Napoli Porta Est” project focuses on the areas of the former FS freight yard of Corso Lucci and Porta Nolana. The construction of a new one is planned intermodal hub station-port-airport and contextual urban regeneration of the entire city area which it extends for approximately 180,000 m2.

For the implementation of the project, the Campania Region, the Municipality of Naples, EAV, the Italian Railway Network and FS Sistemi Urbani have signed an orogram agreement.
Also expected an international design competition for the drafting of the Masterplan of interventions, including the design of the new Headquarters of the Campania Region at the former freight yard.

The project is aimed at the west of the city and includes:

  • the infrastructural improvement with the creation of the L2-L6 modal interchange, through the construction of the new stop and depot of the L6 metro line
  • the simultaneous regeneration of the disused railway areas owned by the FS Italiane Group.

To date, the technical-administrative process is underway for an agreement that provides for a new infrastructure serving the L6 and the new Parthenope university campus.
