Softball, Italposa first dominates then concedes a draw to Pianoro

Draw for Italposa Forlì, who clearly won game 1 0-4 at Pianoro, but fell in the hard-fought second game 4-3. Extraordinary performance by Ilaria Cacciamani in game 1 for Forlì: for her 12 strikeouts and only 2 base balls and 1 hit allowed. The pitcher prevents Bologna’s attack from worrying the Romagna team and Forlì’s attack starts strong against Veronica Comar, scoring two points in the first half, thanks to Alice Spiotta’s triple and Noemi Giacometti’s single.

The match flows quickly with the score not changing until the fifth round, when a defensive error following a contact by Cacciamani allows Spiotta to score the 3-0. The point of the definitive 4-0 was brought home by Caterina Turci with a single in the last round, while in the bottom part a single by Oliveti broke Cacciamani’s possible no-hitter with two outs to go.

Game 2, on the other hand, was extremely close and was decided only by the skin of its teeth. Yamerki Guevara, starting from Pianoro, concedes very little to Forlì’s bats (3 hits, 13 strikeouts on the scoresheet), but the many bases on balls (8) in any case allow the Romagna team to build. In fact, Forlì took the lead in the first inning without even hitting a hit. Pianoro doesn’t respond immediately, but Forlì is unable to take off and so, in the fourth inning, a single by Borracelli against Kelly Barnhill brings the score back to parity. Parity only illusory, because a few minutes later Marta Gasparotto hits a home run – the second of the season, 42nd of her career in Italy, second all time – and in the seventh inning Gasparotto herself scores a point on a sacrifice fly by Veronica Onofri who seems to be able put an end to the match at 3-1.

With just two outs to go, however, Pianoro turns the situation around: Moreland (single) and Di Pancrazio (base on balls) get on base and Eva Trevisan’s double allows them to score the points of 3-3. After the intentional base to Brandi, Oliveti hits the single to the left that brings home Trevisan for the final 4-3.

Other results of the 4th weekend: Parma-Collecchio 1-10 (6th), 2-1, Caronno-Thunders 10-6, 4-1, Bollate-Saronno 11-7, 0-6. Rest: Macerata. Standings: Bollate 9-1 (.900); Saronno 8-2 (.800); Caronno 6-2 (.750); Italposa Forlì 5-3 (.625); Pianoro 4-4 (.500); Macerata 3-5 (.375); Collecchio 3-7 (.300); Thunders 1-7 (.125); Parma 1-9 (.100).
