“IBA drink” Eighth edition, also a teacher from the “Tognazzi” of Velletri at the competition

The “Tognazzi” Institute of Velletri was also represented in competition IBA Drink 2024, with the expert teacher Roberto Longobardi, as director of the technical jury for IBA cocktails. The professor. Longobardi, associated with AIBM since 2029, took care of the evaluation forms of the individual participants, together with the young associate Noa Buti.

The 8th edition of the IBA Drink 2024 competition has concluded, held this year in a particular place: the oratory library of S. Andrea near the “Giovanni Da Verrazzano” Institute which prepared the event. The competition was organized by the Italian Bartender & Mixologist Association, sponsored by the municipality of Orbetello and Martini, with the support of the Tourism Department. The competition took place in one day and the guests were offered a lunch, curated by the students of the “Da Verrazzano” Institute and their teachers. The competition was reserved for barroom students of hotel institutes and 11 schools competed in the competition, coming from all over Italy, from south to north. The participants took part in 3 tests. In the first, a cocktail was drawn and had to be made in front of the technical jury; the second was the solution to a crossword where it was necessary to know not only the recipes, but also customs and society, and finally the last test consisted in making a variant of the Americano. In fact, this year marks the 160th anniversary of the foundation of Martini. The technical jury was organized by Roberto Longobardi, teacher at the “Tognazzi” in Velletri (Rome) and responsible for Lazio for the AIBM Project, together with assistant Noa Buti. The tasting jury was made up of Martini experts Davide Bartolacci and Massimiliano Trippodo. Everything under the control of the competition director Tommaso Di Maio, teacher of the “Da Verrazzano” Institute, together with colleagues Gabriele Borri, Daniele G. Crisalli and Luca Abbiento. The Institute directed by Prof. Luisa Filippini, together with all the children, took care of the reception of the guests up to the tours of the area. Within the event there will also be a master class on mixing organized by the Martini team, who together with the AIBM president, prof. Luigi Manzo, followed the work. Among the main sponsors also the publishing house Sandit Libri which gave the students the classic texts on mixing.
