Over the years, many citizens and residents #of the area have repeatedly raised their voices asking for interventions to protect the natural area, but degradation has taken over. # Starting from the small car park along Strada dei #Conservoni where the path to the Fontanella vein starts. # The old wooden noticeboard where information on the area and the history #of the #Conservoni was no longer there. # What remains #of it is literally buried by a mountain #of brambles, so much so that many people who have recently discovered that natural area didn’t even know #of its existence. # A few steps and the degradation continues: a wooden walkway is almost in pieces, therefore dangerous to cross. # The few chains that indicate the paths are flanked by #tens #of #meters #of #fences that have fallen to the ground. # Those who have recently visited the area have reported that in addition to the damage there is also a serious risk #of injury, given that there are sharp pieces #of wood and numerous nails protruding. # A real trap. # Throughout the area there are also some bins full #of waste, some #of which ended up on the ground.

Other signs #of abandonment emerge from the small brick structure #of the vein. # It was once closed by a gate, today it is open and the grill is lying on the ground inside the mini cave. # Along the path that leads to the former water museum, now the CAI headquarters (an area that appears well-kept, this must be said), the situation does not change much. # The path that continues towards Posto Bello, the clearing with a view #of Assisi, also features unsafe trees, as well as paths that are difficult for hikers to follow.
The situation #of the #Conservoni clashes with what is happening along the ancient water route, where associations have recently started greening, allowing the reopening #of forgotten paths. # A first step towards what could be a more general work #of safeguarding what remains #of the medieval arches, at great risk #of collapse both in San Marco and Ponte d’Oddi (other sections, such as a few #meters from the Keep, are complete) .
