Is called GreenRevolution and it is not just one of the many murals that for some time has been enriching the city’s aesthetic identity, because thanks to the union between Toyota and Retake, Green Revolution, created as part of the WeHybrid Race, in the Carmine district and, precisely, in via Iannicelli, it will be able to purify the air in the surrounding area, with beneficial effects comparable to those of a green area. The paint with which it was made in fact “eats” smog and therefore serves not only to embellish the urban space from the perspective of the now increasingly widespread street art, but also to simulate the function of a green park. The project, explain the organizers, was born from the enthusiasm and commitment of Toyota customers involved in the WeHybrid Race. This friendly competition encouraged participants to travel kilometers in electric mode and engage in a more responsible mobility journey, culminating in the creation of this urban work of art created in collaboration with Retake. The initiative made its debut in Milan after the positive experiences already experienced in Bari and Arezzoand is preparing to reach other Italian cities such as Bologna, Padua and Rome.

SIGNS

The work was created by aartists Amed and Mcnenya: in the center two majestic hands carefully hold a crystal sphere which contains lush sustainable vegetation inside. Wrapping the sphere, a large leaf symbolizes nature and its interconnection with the earth’s ecosystem. The initiative was strongly supported by Dario Renda and Sara Petrone of Retake Salerno, already architects of other similar interventions, particularly in the historic centre, as well as promoters of clean ups and initiatives linked to the development and sustainability of active citizenship. «The work carried out in Salerno is a strong added value for our city and we want to thank Toyota for its commitment to this project, the Retake Italia Foundation for choosing our city as the recipient of this work and the international artists Peppe Amed and Stefano Mcnenya – they explain – whose works can be admired in different parts ofEuropewho were finally able to leave their artistic mark in their city. We are really satisfied with the work carried out and we hope that it is the first step towards a great regeneration of our splendid city.”

The Air Project a colori was born with the aim of making a contribution to improving the air quality of our cities thanks to the creation of murals with special smog-eating photocatalytic paints, totally mineral and odorless paints that reduce urban pollution, neutralizing harmful chemical substances like him NOx released into the environment: 100 m2 of murals offer the same purifying effect as 100 m2 of forest.
