Life-saving flight for a two-year-old girl from Bari to Rome

The urgent medical transport took place in the afternoon, from Bari to Rome, carried out by a C-130J transport aircraft of the 46th Air Brigade of the Air Force, for a two-year-old girl in imminent danger of her life. This was announced by the Air Force. The clinical conditions of the little patient, hospitalized at the Giovanni XXIII hospital in Bari, required an urgent transfer to the Bambino Gesù pediatric hospital in Rome. The prefecture of Bari then contacted the Aerospace Operations Command of Poggio Renatico, which activated one of the Air Force crews on alert for this type of intervention.

For the mission, the C-130J of the 46th Air Brigade, which departed from Pisa, embarked the ambulance, the child, the mother and the medical team directly in Bari, allowing transport times to be drastically reduced. After disembarking at Ciampino airport, which took place around 7.15pm, the ambulance headed towards the pediatric hospital in Rome, while the aircraft returned to the Pisa base to resume the 24-hour emergency service.
