The regular season of Soccer Altamura ends in a draw in group C of the national women’s Serie B 5-a-side football championship. The Altamura team, playing at home to Nox Molfetta, for the 21st matchday, does not go beyond the result of 2 to 2, in a much more important match for the hosts, looking for a place in the play-offs, than for the Altamurans.
Soccer starts well shooting with Pedroso, rejected by the storm, on the other front Dell’Ernia tries with Russo who responds with his foot. Then, Mezzatesta tries, served deep, but her diagonal goes just wide, while Soccer wastes two wonderful opportunities with Difonzo and Pedroso. The result breaks the deadlock in the 9th minute: De Siqueira, from the left, sees the movement on the other side of Dell’Edera who surprises the red and white defense and passes Russo on the way out. It takes Soccer a few minutes to react, but in the 13th minute they manage to equalize: following a corner, Castro tries to serve Pedroso in the center of the area from the left, the ball, deflected by a defender, ends up prey to Difonzo who, of fairness, puts the ball in the net. A minute later the Altamura comeback is completed with Pedroso overcoming Tempesta on the development of a corner. Nox Molfetta’s response was timid and, apart from a diagonal shot from Dell’Ernia deflected into a corner by Russo, failed to worry the Altamura defence.
At the beginning of the second half, Soccer comes close to scoring a trio with Difonzo who, after a triangulation with Lorusso, tries to surprise Tempesta with a dig, but the home goalkeeper responds presently. Shortly afterwards, however, the Nox equalized with Prestes who, from distance, struck Russo with a shot under the crossbar. Soccer immediately tries to respond, but Difonzo still lacks precision. Then, it’s Pedroso who appears alone in the area after a nice run, but Tempesta is good at the exit. A few minutes later, an opportunity for Bati but Russo blocks it, while on the reverse it is Maffei, from an excellent position, who misses the goal of the new lead. In the last quarter of the match, despite a good pace, only one action on each side was worth mentioning, first Difonzo’s diagonal attempt deflected for a corner by Tempesta, then Dell’Ernia’s right-footed shot, on a long throw, and volley Russo’s plastic shot deflects the ball over the crossbar. For the two teams, the draw seems to be going well and, so, the result no longer changes: it is 2 to 2.
For Soccer Altamura, a regular season ends which, in other years, would have allowed them to win the group hands down. The Altamura team found an opponent, Altetico Chiaravalle who did even better. However, the satisfaction of having finished without defeats, with 48 points, the result of 14 wins and 6 draws, 81 goals scored and only 26 conceded, remains. Now, while waiting to know the opponent for the first play-off round which will be decided next Sunday, Soccer is enjoying the rest period, already thinking about the post season.
