ROVIGO – Full audience for special occasions in Pescheria Nuova in Rovigo for the inauguration on Thursday 25 April of the Rovigo Art Biennial by title “Art is freedom”curated by the artist Giancarlo Gulmini and promoted by Rovigo club.
After the introduction of the actress Lara Mantovani, Gulmini expressed satisfaction at having had 71 participating artists from all parts of Italy reading their names one by one. The Mayor of Polesella Leonardo Raito underlined how art and culture are an important driving force for the growth of our Polesine area.
The President of the Rovigo Club Paolo Avezzù, in thanking everyone present, he recalled how Rovigo has been officially “City of Art” since 2004 and how exhibitions of this kind confirm this definition. Then he recalled the recent news of how the visitors to Palazzo Roverella in Rovigo have for 5 years now far exceeded the visitors to Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, with one million visitors to 17 editions of the major exhibitions. A sign that in 2006, when as Mayor he paved the way for these initiatives, he was not a visionary but on the right path.
The curator Giancarlo Gulmini finally invited all those present to the awards ceremony which will be next Friday 3 May at 6pm.
