Palermo, car theft and escape: young man arrested after the chase
Descriptive text here

He was caught by police while tinkering with a car. He was with an accomplice in the stadium area in Palermo: upon seeing the officers he managed to force the lock, get into the vehicle and escape. A reckless escape complete with a chase along Viale Regione Siciliana, which ended with the arrest of a twenty-year-old from Palermo. The young man driving the stolen car tried in every way to lose track of him, but the police managed to stop him.

Despite having accelerated on the ring road, then taking streets and alleys even in the opposite direction, the boy then realized that his back was against the wall. Once he arrived in the Corso dei Mille area, he abandoned the stolen car and continued on foot, desperately trying to outrun the officers by climbing over the wall of a private area. Shortly afterwards he was stopped and taken to the police offices, where he was identified. The arrest was validated.

In the meantime, officers have tracked down the owner of the vehicle, to whom it was returned. This is yet another car theft in the Sicilian capital, where a long trail of attacks has already been carried out in various areas. A few weeks ago another young man was caught red-handed while stealing a car parked near the Mediterranean Fair. A seventeen-year-old caught tinkering with cars left parked in the Forum shopping center car park is also in trouble. Finally, a man who had shortly before forced the lock of a vehicle parked in Corso Calatafimi was also arrested. Among the cars most targeted were the Fiat Panda, Fiat Cinquecento and Smart.
