CARPI. Just over a week ago, as many as 38 had been torn off, yesterday and in the previous days they were also daubed with disconcerting phrases. An example? “Holocaust now”. Or: “Gas chambers”. Let’s talk about posters dedicated to the Liberation, vandalized in Carpi in viale Biondo, viale dei Cipressi and in Santa Croce right next to the 25 April. An act that cannot be classified as “simple” vandalism. No: they are throwing mud and attacking “the history, memory and values of our country”, as also reiterated by the ANPI. And this must not be overlooked. For these reasons, what happened in Carpi must be condemned without ifs or buts.

THE CONDEMNATION OF ANPI
Some posters were found on the ground, others posted but torn and still others defaced. «The havoc continues – the Carpi ANPI intervenes – these are symbols of the Resistance and of the struggle for liberation from Nazism and fascism. Someone continues to deface the flags affixed to the trees of the main avenues of the cities and hamlets of Carpi at night. People are outraged by such shameful acts. But not all political forces and not all mayoral candidates have decided to express their position on these facts: a deafening silence.” The national association of partisans underlines how these gestures are not “girls”, but “the result of attitudes, activities, stances and initiatives that even people who occupy high institutional positions exhibit, thus giving examples to emulate. Anpi will multiply its efforts to continue to spread the values of anti-fascism, democracy and the Constitution”.

MAYOR
«Maybe – intervenes the mayor of Carpi Alberto Bellelli – the electoral campaign is on and some scoundrel enjoys tearing up the candidates’ posters, but we have never seen such fury as this year on the flags of April 25th. This time the criminals of the night, in addition to tearing them up, enriched them with writings praising the brutalities of the Second World War. Anyone who tears an Italian flag is not a patriot, anyone who praises racial hatred is not acting stupid. I thank the State Police for intervening and the Anpi which is ready to put those flags back up. I am sure that all politicians will condemn this uncivilized act”.
