The April 25th is first and foremost a national holiday in memory of the liberation of the country from the fascist dictatorship and control of Nazi Germany. But together with historical commemorationsto the processions and to the testimonies of partisan struggle, are also multiplying in the city cultural events and entertainment dedicated to adults and children. Between cinema, theatre, music and entertainment for children.

The commemorations

In the morning there is mainly space for commemorations and institutional events: from procession leaving from Largo Bompiani towards Porta San Paoloup to that of April 25th Committee from via delle Terme Gordiane to via Locorotondo, and then the laying of a laurel wreath by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella toAltar of the Fatherland. The exhibitions

At the Travertino Arch (entrance via Collegentilesco 10) the exhibition «Clandestine newspapers of the Resistancefrom 8 September 1943 to 25 April 1945″ dedicated to the phenomenon of clandestine press with the exposure of the front pages of the periodicals published in those years by the various anti-fascist political forces, edited by Bianca Cimiotta Lami. But in addition to thematic exhibitions, Liberation Day also offers extraordinary openings and free admission. This is the case of the National Galleries of Ancient Art: Corsini Galleryvia della Lungara 10, e Barberini Palacevia delle Quattro Fontane 13, where the exhibitions are underway «Raphael, Titian, Rubens” And “Night Effect: New American Realism. Works from the collection of tony and Elham Salamé” curated by Massimiliano Gioni and Flaminia Gennari Santori with 150 works by artists active in the United States

Shows

In the evening it’s time for shows. On the stage set up at the Arco di Travertino we start at 8.30 pm with the concert of Jorona Band – composed by Bianca Giovannini «la Jorona» (voice), Felice Zingarelli «FelynX FX» (virtual instruments) and Francesco Berrafato (organetto) – who will perform Songs of the Resistance updated in folktronic style (in collaboration with Anpi Roma). At 9pm it will be the turn of Ascanio Celestini with «Radio clandestina»a show that tells the story of the Nazi occupation in Rome starting from the massacre of the Fosse Ardeatine to give voice to the thousands of family and friends affected by the death of 335 victims. At the Theater of Villa Lazzaroniinstead, the Company of the Arcana brings to the stage «Hang in there, Matt.» written and directed by Alice Bellantoni (at 9pm): Rome, 1943, in a San Lorenzo bombed and exhausted by the German occupation, Margherita, daughter of anti-fascists, is eager to fight alongside her older brother, Matteo. On stage Sofia Boriosi, Violetta Rogai, Marco Bertes and Mila Damato.

Cinema

At the House of Cinema on the occasion of Liberation Day they are on the bill two films: we start at 5pm with «The terrorist», a work directed by the former partisan Gianfranco de Bosio. The film – screened in the restored version edited by Société Cinématographique Lyre of Paris – will be introduced by Stefano de Bosioson of Gianfranco, Fabrizio Pompeiidirector and professor of Entertainment History at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, e Patricia Barsanti, for the Société Cinématographique Lyre (free entry). At 8pm, the screening of the film symbol of the Resistance «Rome, open city» by Roberto Rossellini. The film will be presented with English subtitles to involve the international audience of the Capital in the celebrations (for a fee).

For children
