the video surveillance cameras caught him

A 33-year-old man from Barletta was arrested by the police because he was considered the perpetrator of the attempted robbery carried out last April 18th against the city’s post office headquarters. What framed him was the clothing that the police found in his home, a black jacket with a hood and a red neck warmer, which corresponded to those worn by the alleged robber immortalized by the post office’s video surveillance systems.

Also useful in identifying the 33-year-old were the testimonies of post office employees who described him as corpulent, one meter and 70 centimeters tall and with a Barletta-like inflection. The man allegedly broke into the office announcing in dialect that he would commit a robbery and then ordered the cashier to hand over the cash. To be more convincing he would have brandished a screwdriver. However, when he reached the drawer at the door, he realized that it was empty and ran away. The man was found not far from Barletta station and arrested, a measure which was validated in the following hours. The clothes he was wearing on the day of the attempted robbery were seized. The 33-year-old is now in prison in Trani.
