To guarantee these civic aspects, in compliance with the urban police regulation adopted by the Municipality of Modica, special checks were arranged by the local police commander, Rosario Cannizzaro, requested by the mayor, Maria Monisteri Caschetto, and by the councilor for local safety , Rosario Viola, following multiple reports from citizens regarding the abandonment of excrement left by dogs on streets and sidewalks, without the owners cleaning up the places. The local police, on foot and in civilian clothes, identified sixteen dog handlers, imposing the same number of administrative sanctions for failure to collect excrement. Five people were then stopped with their dogs to check their microchipping which, however, was found to be in order. The checks were carried out in particular in the Ortisiana ring road, in Corso Umberto, in Viale Medaglie d’Oro and in Corso Principessa Maria del Belgio, where, as mentioned, sixteen dog handlers who did not bother to clean up were identified. the sidewalk after their pet had defecated. All identified owners walked the dog on a leash. “The phenomenon of the abandonment of dog excrement – ​​specify the mayor and councilor – creates justified complaints about health and morality issues. The invitation is certainly to collaborate, equipping ourselves with useful tools to leave streets and pavements clean.” The control service will continue in the next few days and will also affect other areas.
