Positive day for the youth teams of Cus Ferrara led by Salvi, with victory in the under 14 and under 16 championships.

In the round of 16 of the direct elimination draw, the U14 team captained by Maestro Ferdinando De Luca defeated the 2000 tennis club of Cervia 2-0. The protagonists are the two born in 2010 Tommaso Caniato and Andrea Picariello, winners of both singles matches.
Andrea, just promoted to the 3.4 ranking, defeated his peer from Romagna Elia Iannuzzi with a score of 62-63. Caniato, ranked 3.5, got the better of Andrea Valzania 61-64. Both matches never in question, led the Cussina pair, together with Federico Pigaiani not playing against Cervia, to enter the best eight teams in Emilia Romagna. Next match, the quarter-finals against Tc Riccione.

Andrea Cogo and Mattia Occhiali, in their first year in the U16 category, fresh from last year’s victory in the macro-area regional U14 and sixth overall in Italy, easily won their group of the second regional phase. 3-0 victories against Nonantola, Argenta and finally San Pietro in Casale. This last match played at home saw Cogo win 60-62 over Stefan Stanciu in a match without history. Mattia Occhiali’s match was more competitive against 3.3 Andrea Salsini. Final result 62-62 and 2-0 for Cus after the singles. The final 3-0 was determined by Andrea and Mattia themselves in doubles with a resounding 60-63 to the Bolognese pair. Round passed and draw in the round of 16 of the direct elimination draw against Siro di Bologna.

While waiting for these delicate meetings, the boys who are part of the Salvi sports project, coached by the coaches Ferdinando De Luca and Davide Ghidoni, have returned to training to prepare as best as possible. Expectations next weekend not only for these two matches, but also for the continuation of the men’s and women’s Under 12s and the mixed Under 10s, teams competing against Mirandola, Albinea and Fidenza respectively.
