Scaroni’s words
At the event organized yesterday by Il Foglio at San Siro, Paolo Scaroni, president of Milan, declared the following: “Our coach is Pioli, at the moment and until the end of the season. I count on Pioli to help us win the matches that we want to win to guarantee ourselves second place. Then at the end of the season Pioli and the management will make assessments for the future. I would like to avoid this issue until the end of the season.” The idea is clear: let the team regroup and take second place without making official announcements, even if the decision has, in fact, been made.

In the post derby, Pioli however made it clear that he did not want to part ways – how could he leave a club like Milan, as he himself said a few months ago? – from the Rossoneri bench: “Cycle over? I do not know. I first heard your analysis on Simone Inzaghi, who 14 months ago seemed to be in difficulty and then instead did everything he did. I’m fine, I’m working well, I think the team has room for improvement.” The coach is certainly right: with him Milan has grown a lot in recent years, but it has now been decided that the next steps will be taken with a new coach.
